LARCHMONT, NY (May 21, 2003)This summer, Baby
Bugs and friends have created a top ten list of activities for parents
to explore art, nature, and other backyard wonders with their kids. Using
the Baby Looney Tunes: Backyard Adventures video, produced
by Child Smart®, parents can come up with creative ideas to bring
learning to life for infants and toddlers by engaging them in various
activities right at home. Baby Bugs, Baby Tweety, and Baby Taz's: Baby Looney Tunes Summer Top Ten List gives parents another opportunity to spend quality time with their daughter or son and discover a world right in their backyard. So, let's get started! BABY LOONEY TUNES SUMMER TOP TEN LIST 2. Play charades. Parents can put a twist on
this well-known game by incorporating nature themes. Fly like a butterfly.
Sting like a bee. With this game no telling what parent and child can
pretend to be. 3. Plan a picnic. Parents can have their daughter
or son assist with setting up a picnic for two. Toddlers can help pack
the basket, select a space in the shade, lay down the blanket, and set
up for a picnic lunch. 4. Create flash cards. Parents can work with
their children to draw different things they find in their backyard. From
grass, trees, and flowers, to insects, and squirrels, parents can practice
sounding out the words as they identify the objects. 5. Make a collage or create an art picture. Parents
can find pictures in magazines that represent nature and make a collage
with their child. Parents can also work with their child to find household
items or use actual elements from nature and create a work of art. For
example, take a poster board, cotton balls to represent the clouds, some
grass from outside, etc. and begin to glue the items on the poster board. 6. Visit the Library. Parents can go to the
library with their child and research books on nature. Look at different
types of pictures that capture nature and art. 7. Plant a flower.
Parents can go to the store and have their child pick out the type of
flower they would like to plant. For this activity seeds, a cup, dirt,
and water are required. 8. Decorate a cake. Parents can have their
child create art using icing and a cake as the canvas. 9. Listen to sounds. Parents can listen to a nature CD with their child and ask them identify the sounds that they hear. 10. Make a bouquet. Parents can work with their child to identify a variety of flowers and create a simple floral arrangement. Kids will remember and cherish activities like these that are simple, fun and that can be done right at home, said Carla Henderson, President of Child Smart, Inc. Baby Looney Tunes: Backyard Adventures offers parents a format to stimulate children and engage them in everyday discoveries. Baby Looney Tunes: Backyard Adventures offers a unique program format including live action, full-sized puppets and animation. Extensive research shows that this format stimulates and educates young minds. As a result, children remain attentive while they learn and have fun at the same time. Little ones will sing along with the fun, original lyrics as they watch the playful puppet trio paint and draw the wonders they see in nature. There is also a finger puppet, which allows for hours of imaginative play.
