Larchmont, NY (June 17, 2003)Child Smart®, Inc.,
producers of innovative infant and toddler videos, released today a list
of musical activities that parents can engage their children in this back-to-school
season. Using the Baby Looney Tunes: Musical Adventures
video, which features for the first time as puppets Baby Bugs, Baby
Taz, and Baby Tweety, parents can expose their children to ten different
instruments and their sounds while introducing them to a range of musical
composers. Music is a stimulating tool that has been proven to assist in the development process of infants and toddlers, said Carla Henderson, President of Child Smart, Inc. Baby Looney Tunes: Musical Adventures, featuring classical music from a wide variety of composers, offers children a fun way to learn and explore many different sounds made by musical instruments. The Baby Looney Tunes Fall Musical Activities List provides a unique experience to both parent and child as they uncover the joy of music together. Whether itıs listening to and then imitating instruments or creating sounds on their own, girls and boys will learn a lesson or two about what music can really do! BABY LOONEY TUNES FALL MUSICAL ACTIVITIES LIST 2. Find the beat. Parents can introduce their little ones to beats and rhythm by teaching them to clap along with the music. 3. Name that instrument. Parents can watch videos/DVDs with their child or listen to CDs and ask their daughter or son to identify the instruments being viewed or heard. The child can then make the sound that instrument makes and mimic the way the instrument is played. For example, for a drum, pretend as if the drum is in front of you and pretend to play. Move hands real fast as if holding drum sticks. 4. What makes a sound? Parent and child can make a list of things that make sounds and test those items to see what type of sound it makes and what instrument the sound is similar to. Use household items such as pots, pans, and glasses for this activity. 5. Iım a Marching Band! This activity is learning
about marching bands. Parents can show pictures of different types of
bands, explain each type of band, and have their child point out the instruments
that are used. For example, find a picture of a rock band, jazz band,
and school marching band, etc. Then both parent and child can select an
instrument and a song and march to the music while pretending to play
the instrument. Take it a step further and select an outfit to wear like
school marching bands.
